THC and CBD Marijuana| Benefits for your health

THC (delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol) and CBD (cannabidiol) are produced by the cannabis plant. They are the main active ingredients found in cannabis and belong to a group of molecules called cannabinoids. Interestingly, they are not naturally produced by cannabis, instead, they are formed through a process known as decarboxylation.

In nature, THC and CBD exist as acidic versions of themselves called THCA and CBDA, and when cannabis is heated through smoking, vaporizing, cooking or baking the “acidic” portion of the THCA and CBDA molecule (known as a carboxyl) is removed,  forming THC and CBD respectively. How about an easier way to understand the differences and benefits of THC & CBD?

The Marijuana plant has BOTh CBD and THC components. Our bodies contain natural receptors. Research initially suggested endocannabinoid receptors were only present in the brain and nerves, but scientists later found that the receptors are present throughout the body, including our skin, immune cells, bone, fat tissue, liver, pancreas, skeletal muscle, heart, blood vessels, kidney, and gastrointestinal tract. THC is the main component or 'cannabinoid' responsible for:

  • the munchies

  • dopey/drowsy feelings

  • totally "chilled out" and "zen" vibes

  • you'll feel intoxicated or you'll get that " high" feeling

THC benefits can include:

CBD is the cannabinoid responsible for feeling:

  • more energy

  • increased relief from chronic pain or digestive issues

  • manages stress and anxiety beautifully

  • CBD does contain small amounts of THC ( depending on the strain) but a high balance of CBD means you won't feel as 'intoxicated' as you would with THC-strong products.

CBD benefits can include helping with:

Both compounds interact with your body endocannabinoid system, but they have very different effects. Check with your Doctor to find the best choice for you and your symptoms.

It is extremely important to check with your licensed Medical Marijuana Doctor to help you find the right strain or "style" of CBD or THC that best suits your needs.

When I was exploring products and medical advice to help me with adrenal fatigue, I was introduced to Aphria's CBD Oil - the Sativa Strain and I noticed immediate relief with anxiety, pain, and digestive issues in just a week or two!

You can smoke it, use oil, or vape it. In my personal experience oil is the easiest and best way to do so, doesn't leave any odors, and has a balancing and level longevity so you feel great longer.

I successfully weaned myself OFF steroids ( which my Endocrinologist told me I would need to take for life) and started with slow doses of CBD oil under the careful watch of my wonderful Doctor in Burlington, Ontario Canada. Slowly but surely the results starting showing me that this was and is the best and most natural choice for me!

Please share your thoughts and journey with me! I'd love to know how you feel, and what strains have worked the best for your medical challenges!
